Serbus attend AWE 2020
Despite restrictions resulting from COVID, Serbus was delighted to be able to make a break from the office to attend AWE20 last Wednesday. Throughout the whole experience we were inspired; in particular from the beginning where event organisers went the extra mile to ensure social distancing could be adhered to – and where better than Salisbury Plain to do so? The security provisions in place on the day served as a subtle advantage to all, allowing for great, relevant and focused conversation in smaller groups of people.
The AWE (Army Warfighting Experiment) has always been about bringing together a passionate community of technology industry experts and providers, in an effort to accelerate and advance the Army’s use of tech to approach issues, affording them with the most competitive edge available. These issues include ways to expediate and make better decision making processes and situational awareness understanding, enabling efficient deployment and employment of operations.
Serbus has previously worked with the Army on programmes to supply the most secure and rugged devices for mobile communications, with the design to reduce detectability and improve situational awareness and seamless deployment. As such, we were eager to be in attendance.
It was great to forge and reignite connections, both old and new, to talk in detail about the advancements to our provision and the edge we offer with our encrypted device communications. In a world made more difficult for all by the pandemic, it was incredibly rewarding to be able to meet and converse face-to-face with visitors to our stand, back with the capability to discuss, show and (safely) demonstrate what we do; at the same time, understanding better the threat landscape, and identifying new and emerging requirements.
Over the course of the past year, we have grown and welcomed a handful of new faces and roles to the Serbus team, all in the effort to help us as we secure the remote worker – whatever or wherever the assignment may be. From the conversations and time we spent during AWE this year, we are optimistic in our thoughts for further future growth and look forward to the new areas it may propel us.
