Danielle Lewis, welcome to the team
It’s business “almost” as usual at Serbus, and this week we are excited to welcome another new starter to the team, Danielle Lewis.
Joining us from her home in the Forest of Dean as a new Service Delivery Manager, Danielle will run the first line support desk for our clients, ensuring service level agreements are met, KPIs, making certain the service we provide is nothing less than exemplary.
Danielle has spent the last decade nurturing her interest and qualifications in information technology and focusing on security. She is ITIL trained, so when the opportunity to work within the Serbus team came up, she jumped at the chance.
With a varied career history, including working in a medium-secure mental health facility, Danielle brings with her a strong set of skills, and we’re extremely excited to have her creative input in the team.
We took a few minutes with Danielle to ask her some questions and get to know her a little bit better…
Hi Danielle! Welcome to the team. We’d love to know (aside from joining Serbus!) what has been a really defining/pivotal moment for you in your life?
Hello, thank you, I’m excited to get started. Well, there are a couple of notable events… I love my travelling and was able to do a fair bit a few years ago. My two most defining moments I think were once, when I was in my early 20s I went on holiday to Egypt, probably about 10-15 years ago before the bombings and ISIS situation.
I did the classic British Sharm El-Sheikh partying, but one day took a plane trip to the suburbs of Cairo. I was humbled when I saw people, adults and children, living amongst the graveyards; it was a real eye opener for me. It helps me realise how luck I am, and puts into perspective this current situation when we can’t get plain flour in the shops, when you see people living in such shocking conditions.
Another similar defining moment for me was also around the same time. I went trekking in the mountains of Nepal and saw so many children. We were told we weren’t allowed to give them any chocolate or anything, because they don’t have access to such luxuries, and that if we did, they’d probably never be able to have it again. I keep both those memories very close as a reminder that we’re so lucky, really.
Who’s a really good role model to you and why?
Elon Musk. I really do admire his creativity. He is constantly trying to develop new things and better himself. He is willing to think outside of the box to achieve success in a job or new venture.
How have you been keeping busy during lockdown?
I’m really creative and I love making things. I’ve been doing loads of furniture painting, I’ve made dresses and skirts for my daughter, making things out of cardboard boxes, you name it.
We’ve also been doing an extension on our house, so we’ve had a lot of contractors coming in, and I’ve been helping them out and overseeing operations! I’m hoping we’ll have it done in a month or so (fingers crossed).
What’s your favourite element of the Serbus offering to our clients?
I have to say, it’s got to be the software and hardware devices Serbus provide that protect against digital hacking and provide cyber security. Honestly it will move mountains for those that need it in these times.
I think it’s so important, especially considering things going on today with coronavirus and Brexit, everything is so prevalent! Any information shared should be done so securely, and made available only to those who need it.
We’re thrilled that Danielle has joined us and are looking forward to the future.
